I really love how you've managed to capture the bestial gaze. I don't think that's an actual term, but I can't think of any other for it. Animals appear to have a different way of pondering or scrutinizing, is all I mean.

victorie - 2005-07-27 15:58:41
i like it very much...

Aravis - 2005-07-27 15:59:30
In many ways, this reminded me of me and my dog, Sam. I connected with this illustration instantly. Wonderful job! :0)

Jack - 2005-07-27 16:38:21
That's odd, I pictured you to be slightly shorter than illustrated. (although it's tough to judge height whilst sitting). I do like it very much nonetheless...it has a certain dream like quality as well as a 'stillness' that I find appealing. Nice butt too (no, not the dog)

i really like this one. its got a really soft feel to it. i love the way you darkened the pencil lines. im still learning in photoshop. nice job.

Wee, you're amazing.

rowantree - 2005-07-27 16:53:16
Wow !! I also enjoy that moments whith my dogs.

danielle - 2005-07-27 17:09:30
It's very beautiful. I'm awed by digital art, but I personally prefer(manual?) (analog?) illustrations.

Rebeccashane - 2005-07-27 17:12:29
Your posts make me want a dog SO BAD. Great site. Love the new header

meggie - 2005-07-27 18:54:07
Wow, definitely a bit loser than I've seen from you before, wee. I really love the line work and soft washes of color. You've conveyed the word of the week perfectly.

meggie - 2005-07-27 18:54:54
Umm, make that looser with 2 o's. :)

wee - 2005-07-27 19:10:53
awww...shucks. Thank you all for your comments, I can never get enough!! I just thought I would mention: Don't be afraid to be critical sometimes too... I can take it and I need the input (positive or negative) in order to grow my abilities. I may or may not take your advice, but I will ALWAYS listen and consider anything you have to say. And... for those of you who don't already know, that guy up there in the comments? Jack? Yeah... I'm kind of married to him so he gets to make comments about my butt. And the dog's butt for that matter too.

Detlef - 2005-07-27 19:38:41
Again, a delight. Did you find that consciously moving to a looser style was difficult? I know that I would find it amazingly difficult and indeed have given up trying - the curse of realism. BTW I'm a real sucker for the muted colour palette.

GORGEOUS! ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. THANKS FOR SHARING. JAN

anything with dogs or cats or animals, I truly LOVE... very good choice of colors. I love the dog too!

bluepoppy - 2005-07-28 08:57:47

Steph - 2005-07-28 10:39:05
I really love this! Sort of makes me home sick too. I miss my dogs!!! Very well done.

f-i-n - 2005-07-28 10:46:51
I could make up a whole story to go with that drawing!

Giao - 2005-07-28 11:02:27
Glorious, wonderful, gorgeous. I makes me want to cuddle my pooch right now. Which I will. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful entry.

Laura - 2005-07-28 11:09:24
That is a wonderful picture; if you were to make prints, I would definitely want one. I too am amazed by how undigital you can make a digital work look. The dog is definitely YOUR dog, not a generic dog, but with oodles of personality.

velleitypie - 2005-07-28 12:53:38
I love dogs! So its alredy awesome. Loose and sketchy. I like it. Nice work.

Anne - 2005-07-28 12:55:17

violetismycolor - 2005-07-28 13:53:43
I absolutely adore this...I hope you are going to frame it and put it up in your house! It really does have the feeling of tranquility. Ah, Wee...to be so talented!

Becky - 2005-07-28 19:37:33
Love it - what a great self portrait! You certainly captured the feeling of tranquility, and somehow made us want to know you more...and pet your dog :o) Kudos on a great drawing and wonderful addition to this week's theme!

otter - 2005-07-28 20:30:13
Wow. Wee. You AMAZE me.

Cin - 2005-07-29 11:58:19
The colors (just that addition of scribbled yellow (orche ?) grasses adds so much) the gestural line work, the soft brushstrokes, and that you don't show everything but just enough. . . .lots to savor in all of those things. . .beautiful interpretation Wee and ever so many thanks for your comment on my "EM" challenges. . .you are very generous Wee and it is much appreciated. . . same goes for me too though, criticisms are very much welcomed !!
