Oh that is so sad! I'm glad you have your pictures and we get to share in your discovery through them. They were so perfect in shape and color. I wonder if they will try again this year or if that was that.

:( how terrible sad. I'm glad you ran home for your camera too. I was writing about your eggs and linking to you when I popped back in to hear they were no more. *sad*

it IS possible that they hatched and there are happy baby robins somewhere... especially since the shell was broken. right? right??!!??

oh why did I have to be listening to the saddest music at the same time as reading your post. . . . forever more I will think of that song as "Robin Egg Blues". . . they live on at least in your gorgeous design

Gosh...Not a happy ending to a sweet tribute to mothers. Such is life, eh. *sigh* PS...The pictures are wonderful. :)

Oh, I totally feel for you. We had the exact same thing happen at our house this spring. A momma duck decided to lay about a dozen eggs in a nest right alongside the front of our house. She diligently sat on the nest. One day we woke up to a bunch of broken egg shells -- and no baby ducks. Momma hung around for a few days . . . but I never saw one baby. I fear for the worst, and it made me and the family really sad . . . It's funny -- I felt silly blogging the duck saga and my subsequent sadness -- but I see I have a friend in this birdie business!! LOL!
