2004-09-28 autumn at a glimpse
Tonight, they tell me, it's a Harvest Moon. Autumn is well and truly here. The park is rapidly becoming as essential to me as oxygen and chocolate and a pink tongued dog named Finnegan Jane.

Today, we found a secret hidey space carpeted in red maple leaves and draped with scarlet swags of Virgina creeper and wild grapes. i'm sure anyone passing by would have thought me mad, crouched and squinting. They probably would have thought I was certifiable and dangerous to boot. But no one passed by, save for thousands upon thousands of birds scuttling by like noisy clouds, swooping and swelling and swerving like airborne schools of fish. Or maybe they would have wanted to join us, who knows? But we would have barred them entry until they presented the secret password. Actually, we might have been persuaded by orange cake slathered with chocolate icing an inch thick. Oh yeah. Defintely would have been persuaded then.
