Oh dear. The poor wee little things. You did your best. There is nothing else you can do but that. This reminds me of a chicken story that was told over beers between a wedding and a reception this past weekend. I will have to retell the story now because you remind me of me in your worrying about the welfare of snails and the snail medics. (I come from a family that said, "eat your mashed potatoes or you'll make them cry!" until I reluctantly consumed them all, mixed with my tears.)

I know the feeling. I hate to kill ANYTHING!

I think you still have enough Karmic credibiltiy to be reincarnated as one of my kitties. ANd I will pet you and love you and make you a bed out of a cardboard box and an old (clean) towel. And sometimes when I have to take you to the vet you will get very angry at me and hiss even, but I will calmly tell you that you will feel better after we go to the vet and you will not exactly trust me because of the time i too you to the vet and he sterilized you, but you will feel a little calmer. And then I will give you tuna fish for being such a good kitty. Oh, and Wee, I have always feared you.

I loved loved loved this post. :) We have a snail trail too, but it's really slugs, and despite their disgustiness I still can't bear to cavalierly squash them, going to great zigzaggy lengths to avoid each and every one. Kate! You and your mashed potatoes made me laugh my head off!! :D

Oh, Wee. You would be named Franklin if you were a male kitty or Freckles if you were a female kitty. As for your paws, that is between you and His Holiness. Perhaps you should have a second placard requesting an odd foot in your next kitty life.

Ooooh.. I hate it when I step on snails too! Especially those stripey ones like you described. I don't know why, but I don't seem to have too much of a reaction when I step on the tiny gray ones, but the stripey ones with the bigger, crunchier shells just make me cringe. With the weather being rainy for the next few days, you'll not only have to watch out for snails, but earthworms as well! Those will be all over the sidewalks!

How the heck did you prove you weren't a robot?! Mess up a math question? Breakdance? Cry?
